Zabbix 7.2 released

The release of the free and open-source monitoring system Zabbix 7.2 has taken place. The release 7.2 is classified as a version with a short period of official support. Users who prefer a long period of support are recommended to use Zabbix 7.0 LTS.

Zabbix is ​​a universal system for monitoring the performance and availability of servers, services, engineering and network equipment, applications, databases, virtualization systems, containers, IT services, web services, cloud infrastructure and IoT devices.

The system implements a full cycle, starting from data collection, its processing and transformation, analysis of this data for prediction and detection of problems, and ending with storage of this data, visualization and sending of alerts using escalation rules. The system also provides flexible options for expanding data collection methods, alerts, visualization tools and automatic resolution of incidents. A single web interface and a powerful API implement automation capabilities and centralized management of monitoring configurations and role-based distribution of access rights to various user groups. Project code spreads under license AGPLv3.

All improvements 7.2 version:

  • support for new widgets "Top items", "Host card";
  • sparkline chart support for quick contextual information;
  • support for logarithmic Y scale for graphs;
  • Nvidia GPU monitoring (coming in version 7.2.1);
  • Monitoring network devices with NETCONF protocol support
  • easier automation of Zabbix component deployment using environment variables;
  • support for additional macros in notifications;
  • Improved VMware monitoring;
  • Removed Oracle support for data storage.

Other significant improvements:

  • The limitation on the maximum number of dependent items has been removed.

New and improved existing templates and integrations:

  • LAMP, Nvidia, Juniper, Huawei, Nutanix.

Zabbix offers integration with:

  • support service platforms Jira, Jira ServiceDesk, Redmine, ServiceNow, Zendesk, OTRS, Zammad, Solarwinds Service Desk, TOPdesk, SysAid, iTOP, ManageEngine Service Desk;

Official packages available for current versions of the following platforms:

  • distributions of Alma Linux, CentOS, Debian, OpenSUSE, Oracle Linux, Raspberry Pi OS, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu for various architectures;
  • virtualization systems based on VMWare, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, XEN;

Zabbix quick installation available for cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean, IBM/RedHat Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Yandex Cloud.

To migrate from earlier versions, you only need to install new binaries (server and proxy) and a new interface. Zabbix will automatically perform the upgrade procedure. No new agents need to be installed.
