Beautiful Desolation takes place in the distant future in post-apocalyptic Africa. The world is ruled by high technologies, which are both revered and condemned. In the role of Mark (Mark), "man without time", players will go in search of his lost brother Don (Don). The hero will see "echoes of past devastation" and "glimpses of a dark future" that their actions may lead to. The protagonist will have to go through dilapidated cities, flourishing villages, petrified forests and the bottom of the dried ocean. He will have to make difficult decisions, negotiate with the leaders of local tribes in order to pass through their territories, as well as fight huge scorpions and robots armed with missiles.

In artistic terms, the authors pay special attention to the study of the environment. To create believable African locations ΠΈΡΠΏΠΎΠ»ΡŒΠ·ΡƒΡŽΡ‚ΡΡ real 3D models and photogrammetry technologies. Musical accompaniment works by Mick Gordon (Mick Gordon), known for compositions for the latest parts of Wolfenstein, Doom (2016), Preys (2017), Killer Instinct, and several editions of Need for Speed. Now he is also working on the soundtrack for Doom Eternal.

Beautiful Desolation was announced in September 2016. At the beginning of 2017, the developers raised funds to create the project through Kickstarter: almost 4,5 thousand people donated $138 thousand.

The Brotherhood Games is based in Cape Town (South Africa). Beautiful Desolation will be the studio's third project after Stasis and the free-to-play isometric horror game Cayne. Two people are involved in the main development - artist and designer Christopher Bischoff (Christopher Bischoff) and programmer Nicholas Bischoff (Nicolas Bischoff). Some players may remember Christopher from illustrations depicting popular games in isometric perspective (for exampleBioShock Infinite, Fallout 4  ΠΈ Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag).

The development of Stasis was also funded through Kickstarter. The studio worked on it even longer - about five years. The game was released in 2015 and received a lot of accolades from customers (it has "mostly positive" reviews in Steam based on 823 reviews). Daedalic Entertainment helped digitally publish the game and distribute the disc versions in Europe.
