The organizers of gamescom have announced that this year's exhibition in its traditional format has been completely cancelled. Instead, there will be an online show. Expected as the German government a ban on large events until the end of August.
"It's official: Unfortunately, under no circumstances will gamescom take place at the Cologne venue this year," the statement said. βLike many of you, we are disappointed because, as a Gamescom team, we have been working for months on an amazing gamescom 2020. So are many partners. However, it is also clear to us that in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, we must be united. This means that we all need to be considerate of each other and reduce the risk of infection.β
At present, the organizers of gamescom are throwing all their efforts into the digital show. It will take place on August 24th.
