Interaction between FSF and GNU

A post has appeared on the Free Software Foundation (FSF) website explaining the relationship between the Free Software Foundation (FSF) and the GNU Project in light of recent events.

“The Free Software Foundation (FSF) and the GNU Project were founded by Richard M. Stallman (RMS), and until recently he was the head of both. For this reason, relations between FSF and GNU have been smooth.
As part of our efforts to support the development and distribution of completely free operating systems, the FSF provides GNU with assistance such as financial sponsorship, technical infrastructure, promotion, copyright transfer, and volunteer support.
GNU decision making was largely in the hands of the GNU leadership. Since RMS has retired as president of the FSF, but not as head of GNU, the FSF is currently working with the GNU leadership to build relationships and plans for the future. We invite members of the free software community to discuss [email protected]. "
