Those who hacked NVIDIA demanded that the company convert its drivers to Open Source

As you know, NVIDIA recently confirmed the hacking of its own infrastructure and reported the theft of a huge amount of data, including driver source codes, DLSS technology and customer base. According to the attackers, they were able to pump out one terabyte of data. From the resulting set, about 75GB of data, including the source code of Windows drivers, has already been published in the public domain.

But the attackers did not stop there and are now demanding that NVIDIA convert its drivers for Windows, macOS and Linux into open source software and distribute them further under a free license, otherwise they threaten to publish the circuit design of NVIDIA video cards and chips. They also promise to publish Verilog files for the GeForce RTX 3090Ti and GPUs under development, as well as information that constitutes a trade secret. Time to make a decision on converting drivers to open source software is given until Friday.
