WhatsApp is working on an autoplay feature for audio messages

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp continues to improve its product by adding long overdue features. So, recently the development team started working on the ability to automatically listen to all audio messages received in an open chat, starting from the first one launched.

If you receive a lot of voice messages from your friends and do not keep up with their pace, then you will just need to press the "Play" button on the first unheard message in the chat, after which the messenger will play them all in sequence. You can already test the new functionality in beta version 2.19.86, which automatically activates it on your side and on the server side.

To check if this feature is enabled on your device, you can ask a friend to send you two voice messages: start the first one and, if the second one automatically plays after it ends, then the feature is already available for you, ”the WABetaInfo thematic portal reports.

Also in the current beta version, work continues on the Picture in Picture (PiP) video playback mode, which has been updated to the second version.

The first version of PiP did not allow you to switch the chat without closing the previously launched video. WhatsApp has finally added a feature that "removes" this limitation.

Moreover, work is underway on the next PiP improvement, which will allow you to play videos received from your friends in the background when the messenger itself is removed from the active screen. This feature requires your Android device to be at least Android 8 Oreo.
