Windows 10 20H1 will get an improved algorithm for the search indexer

As you know, Windows 10 version 2004 (20H1) almost got there to release candidate status. This means freezing the codebase and fixing bugs. And one of the stages is to optimize the load on the processor and hard disk when searching.

Windows 10 20H1 will get an improved algorithm for the search indexer

Microsoft is said to have conducted extensive research over the past year to identify critical issues in Windows Search. The culprit was the indexing service, which slows down the system and excessively loads the CPU and HDD.

Therefore, according to the company, in build 2004 the indexer will receive a new algorithm that will track too much "appetite" of the indexing system and reduce resource consumption. True, this will certainly slow down the actual search.

The company clarifies that indexing will stop when the processor load is more than 80%, as well as when the disk load is more than 70%. In addition, this service will be disabled when you start the game mode or when the battery is less than 50%.

Finally, Redmond promised to continue to improve the work of the search engine. Note that the innovation should, in theory, appear in April-May of this year. However, this is not a guarantee of timing or the absence of other problems in the update. It's Microsoft, everything happens to them.
