Windows 10 can now be reinstalled from the cloud. But with reservations

It seems that the technology of restoring Windows 10 from physical media will soon be a thing of the past. In any case, there is hope for this. On Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18970 appeared the ability to reinstall the OS over the Network from the cloud.

Windows 10 can now be reinstalled from the cloud. But with reservations

This feature is called Reset this PC, and the description says that some users prefer to use a high-speed Internet connection than burn the image to a flash drive (which requires at least one more PC).

At the same time, this possibility is functionally similar to restoring the OS to its original state. During installation, a warning is displayed about the removal of all user applications and (optionally) data. It can also be a problem on low-speed or limited channels, because you need to download at least 2,86 GB of installation files.

As noted, when reinstalling the OS in this way, the same version that is on the computer will be downloaded. So far, this feature is available only as part of the Insider Preview Build 18970, it will appear in the release, obviously, no earlier than next spring.

At the same time, we recall that cloud reinstallation is not the only innovation in build 18970. It also showed an updated tablet mode that differs from the existing one. And although it is available as an option, and not by default, there are certain advantages to it.

For example, in it, the on-screen keyboard starts when you tap on a text field, and the distance between the icons in the taskbar has become larger. Finally, it became possible not to expand the tablet mode to full screen, that is, the desktop will be available.
