Xiaomi will pre-install Russian programs on its devices

It became known that the Chinese company Xiaomi will carry out a preliminary installation of domestic software on devices supplied to Russia, as required by the legislation of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the news agency RNS with reference to the press service of the company.

Xiaomi will pre-install Russian programs on its devices

A Xiaomi representative noted that the pre-installation of applications from local developers has already been worked out and has been repeatedly used by the company in the past.

β€œWe are committed to complying with all the norms of Russian legislation, and if it is necessary to install additional software, we will install it in working mode,” said a representative of the Xiaomi press service.

Recall that at the end of last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian applications on smartphones, computers and smart TVs. According to the mentioned bill, consumers should be provided with the opportunity to use technically complex products with pre-installed applications from domestic developers.

It should be noted that the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software will be introduced gradually for different categories of goods. For example, from July 1, 2020, manufacturers will have to install Russian browsers, mapping and navigation services, instant messengers, email applications, as well as clients for accessing social networks and the public services portal on smartphones. From July 1, 2021, a similar list of software, supplemented by Russian anti-virus solutions, programs for watching TV and listening to radio, will become mandatory for installation on computers and laptops. As for smart TVs, manufacturers will start pre-installing Russian software for them from 2022.

Recall that today the South Korean company Samsung announced readiness to carry out preliminary installation of Russian applications in their devices.
