Xiaomi's legal department reported on the arrest of a criminal group engaged in the production and sale of fake Mi AirDots wireless headphones. The company said it discovered a site earlier in the year that sells counterfeit headphones. The security forces managed to track down a manufacturing plant that produced counterfeits, which was based in an industrial park in Shenzhen.
Xiaomi lawyers said that during the storming of the factory, more than 1000 units of fake headsets were seized, packed in boxes that repeat the packaging of the original Mi AirDots, as well as a large number of parts for assembling headphones. At the moment, the company's lawyers are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The popularity of Xiaomi has made counterfeiting its products a very lucrative way to make money illegally. Scammers have reportedly set up counterfeits of smartphones and other products manufactured by the Chinese tech giant.
Xiaomi recommends that customers buy its products only from official distributors, since the number of fakes, which most often do not differ even in acceptable quality, is currently very large on the market.
