Yandex and FSB have developed a solution for encryption keys

Earlier it was reported that the FSB requires from the Yandex company to provide encryption keys for user correspondence. In turn, Yandex answeredthat such actions are not legal. Now, the managing director of Yandex, Tigran Khudaverdyan, told RBC that the company had reached an agreement with the FSB on encryption keys.

He said that the current situation is quite simple. In his opinion, all companies must comply with the so-called Yarovaya law. As for Yandex, the company's task is to ensure that compliance with the law does not contradict the privacy of user information. Mr. Khudaverdyan confirmed that the parties to the conflict found a way out of the current situation, but did not disclose the details of the solution worked out.

Recall that earlier the media wrote that the FSB sent a request to Yandex a few months ago to provide encryption keys for user data of the Yandex.Disk and Yandex.Mail services. It is noteworthy that in the time that has passed since then, Yandex has not provided access to encryption keys, despite the fact that, in accordance with the current legislation, 10 days are allotted for this. The press service of "Yandex" stated that the requirements of the law should not imply the transfer into the hands of the FSB of keys that can be used to decrypt all user traffic.

The previously mentioned Yandex services are included in the register of information dissemination organizers. This suggests that the implementation of the “Yarovaya law” allows that the FSB operational and technical measures center may require keys that allow decoding user messages.
