Yandex announced the launch . The gallery will show users 4000 unique paintings, created by an algorithm based on artificial intelligence technologies. Anyone can choose one of the remaining paintings in stock and take it for themselves absolutely free. In this case, only its owner will have a full-size version of the painting.
The neural network art gallery is divided into 4 thematic rooms. Users can view the AI ββsystem's creations in the Nature, People, City, and Mood categories. The virtual gallery will allow visitors to visit a full-fledged exhibition without leaving home, and the works they like can be shared with friends on social networks.
The first visitors will be able to download one picture they like in full size. To become the owner of a painting created by a neural network, you will need to log in to any Yandex service. The paintings that the owners receive will continue to be available for viewing, but in the gallery they will only be displayed in a reduced form.
The presented works were created by a neural network that replicates the StyleGAN2 architecture. In the process of training the neural network, specialists used works of different styles, such as cubism, minimalism, street art, etc. During the training process, the neural network studied 40 paintings, after which it began creating its own works. To select paintings according to different categories, another neural network was used, which is used in the Yandex.Pictures service to search for images based on queries. It was she who was able to see people, nature, the city and different moods in the paintings, sorting the available works into categories.
