A few days ago, Yandex top managers informed investors about the growth in advertising revenue and the increase in the number of trips made through the Yandex.Taxi service in May compared to April. Despite this, some experts believe that the peak of the crisis in the advertising market has not yet passed.

If in April advertising revenues decreased by 17-19% compared to the same period last year, then in the period from May 1 to May 22 - only by 7-9% year-on-year. It is noted that revenue from representatives of the small and medium business sectors is growing faster than from advertisers from other segments.

Virtual meetings with investors were conducted by Greg Abovsky, COO and CFO of Yandex, and Tigran Khudaverdyan, Managing Director of Yandex Group of Companies. It is noted that one of the main conclusions that were made at the end of the meetings is that the trends in advertising and taxis for the company are gradually improving compared to the bottom point, which was reached in April.

Recall that Yandex is the most expensive company on Runet with a capitalization of $13,2 billion. Based on the dynamics of the company's revenue, some conclusions can be drawn about the situation in the Russian economy and about which segments have begun to grow, and in which positive dynamics are not observed. At the end of last year, Yandex occupied about a quarter of the Russian advertising market and received 69% of all revenue from this area.

Some market participants and analysts believe that the results of "Yandex" speak of a revival in economic activity, indicating the beginning of a recovery from the crisis. However, experts believe that it is too early to talk about an improvement in the situation and the reduction in advertising costs will continue. It is noted that despite the improvement in Yandex's performance, the market remains in an extremely difficult situation, and the revenue of the largest advertisers is reduced by 10% or more.

According to AsIndex data, the largest advertisers on the Internet last year were the mobile operator Tele2, which spent 2,2 billion rubles, MTS (2,17 billion rubles) and Sberbank (1,9 billion rubles).
