In the early eighties, the ZX Spectrum was one of the most popular computers in Europe, and clones of this device, such as the Hobbit, Breeze or Nafanya, became widespread in the former USSR / CIS.

The popularity of the ZX Spectrum was ensured by its low price, color support and the availability of components. A wide variety of games were available on the platform.

β€œThe computer lives as long as software is released for it. We want Spectrum to continue to live, so we are announcing the Yandex Retro Games Battle, a competition for the development of games for Spectrum with cash prizes, ”said the Russian IT giant.

Competitors are invited to create a game of any genre for the ZX Spectrum platform. The main condition is that the game must be original and run on a ZX Spectrum with 48 or 128 kilobytes of memory. The use of any additional peripherals is prohibited.

You can apply to participate in the competition here. The game must be created and uploaded to the competition website by 12:00 on December 3, 2019.

Games will be judged on three criteria: gameplay, graphics and sound. The author of the best game will receive 70 rubles. The reward for the second and third places will be 40 thousand and 30 thousand rubles, respectively. In addition, the Audience Choice Award in the amount of 30 rubles will be awarded.
