The Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) of the Japanese Ministry of Defense has announced the world's first naval shipborne railgun test. The electronic weapon fired 40-mm projectiles, which accelerated to a speed of Mach 6,5. Developments have accelerated in 2022 and promise to quickly lead to the introduction of rail guns.
