The vast majority of Japanese companies have no plans to use the 5G mobile networks of China's Huawei or other foreign firms, preferring instead to rely on domestic telecom operators due to security risks, according to a Reuters Corporate Survey.
The corporate survey results come amid concerns in Washington that the Chinese telecom giant's equipment could be used for espionage. Japanese operators are set to launch high-speed 5G wireless services next year.
In written comments, no Japanese company named Huawei or any other foreign firms, but survey respondents expressed concerns about security issues when using equipment from foreign manufacturers.
