Other World Computing (OWC) has announced the Aura Pro X2 series of solid state drives designed to upgrade the storage subsystem of a number of Apple computers.
The devices belong to NVMe 1.3 PCIe 3.1 x4 solutions, which indicates high performance. 64-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory microchips (three bits of information in one cell) and a Silicon Motion SM2262EN controller are used.
Aura Pro X2 family drives are suitable for upgrading MacBook Air (2013-2017), Retina MacBook Pro (2013-2015), Mac Pro (2013) and Mac mini (2014).
The series includes models with a capacity of 240 GB and 480 GB, as well as 1 TB and 2 TB. The maximum sequential read speed of information, depending on the modification, varies from 2989 MB / s to 3282 MB / s, the sequential write speed - from 1208 MB / s to 2488 MB / s.
Aura Pro X2 family products come with a five-year warranty. Price - from 120 to 700 US dollars.
It is curious that the new items can be purchased complete with a special case for the old drive: this will allow you to use the SSD module removed from the PC as an external storage device.
