The fact that Google plans to replace the Play Music service with YouTube Music has been known for a long time. To implement this plan, developers must ensure that YouTube Music supports the features that users are accustomed to.

The next step in this direction is the integration of the ability to play tracks that are stored locally on the user device. Local recording support was initially rolled out to a limited number of users. Now its large-scale distribution has begun, meaning that soon every user will be able to listen to music stored in the memory of an Android gadget. You can find local tracks in the “Device Files” section. The introduction of the new feature means that users will be able to use one application to play local tunes and listen to streaming music collections.

It is worth noting that at the moment the new function has a number of limitations that may be removed in the future. For example, the user will not be able to add local recordings to playlists and queues created from YouTube Music content. In addition, there is no possibility of broadcasting local tracks to any other location. Conventional YouTube features such as the Like and Dislike buttons will disappear from the controls. In the near future, all owners of Android devices will be able to use the function of listening to local music recordings.
