YouTube has simplified the work with the claims of copyright holders

YouTube expanded capabilities of its multimedia platform and made it easier for video content creators to deal with copyright claims. The YouTube Studio toolbar now shows exactly which episodes of a video are infringing copyright. Channel owners can cut controversial parts instead of deleting the entire video. This is available in the Restrictions tab. There are also instructions for offensive videos.

In addition, the channel tab now shows all claims, a list of offending videos, and who filed the claim. You can also file an appeal with YouTube and open a dispute there.

It is assumed that the innovation will allow not to remove monetization from the channels. However, in Engadget notethat it still does not solve the problem as a whole. After all, the authors of the video have far fewer opportunities than the copyright holders, and it is the latter who “order the music” in the event of a dispute.

This is not the first such innovation. Back in July 2019, YouTube changed the copyright protection system. Copyright defenders need to put accurate timestamps on the video so that the authors can remove the controversial episode. The current version expands the possibilities for the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Formerly YouTube toughened rules in terms of the content of the posted content. For hidden insults or threats, you can now lose monetization or a channel.
