Marvelous Europe has announced that it will release Ys: Memories of Celceta on PlayStation 4 in Europe in Spring 2020.
The remaster of the Japanese action RPG will support 60fps and high quality graphics, as well as offer optimized controls to replicate the touchscreen features of the PlayStation Vita (where the original Ys: Memories of Celceta was released).
In North America, XSEED Games will be releasing a Day 25 Timeless Adventurer Edition in addition to the digital version. It will contain a copy of Ys: Memories of Celceta; soundtrack CD (which was part of the Ys 39,99th Anniversary Pack in Japan) with nine re-recorded songs from the games in the series, as well as five songs from the original Ys for MSX; and twelve cards with the heroines of the series. In Europe, Ys: Memories of Celceta will also be available in the box and the PlayStation Store, but release details have yet to be announced.
Ys: Memories of Celceta is set in the world of Ys IV: Mask of the Sun. In this game, one of the most extensive regions of the series is available for you to explore. In the story, Adol Christine suffers from amnesia. He wakes up to find himself in Kasnan, a bustling frontier village on the edge of an endless forest. With no memory of his past or purpose, he wanders the settlement until a mysterious information broker named Duren, who claims to know him, joins Adol on a surprise mission to clear monsters from the nearby mine.
Fulfilling this unexpected request awakens in Adol the instincts of a skilled swordsman, and their exploits quickly attract the attention of Griselda, a general in the Romun army. Impressed by their skill, she hires the duo to help map the great forest of Selcete. This task was attempted by many, but none of them ever returned. Far from the edge of the border, Adol and DΓΌren must face the dangers of the region and help the hero regain his lost memories.
The original Ys: Memories of Celceta was released on the PlayStation Vita in 2012 and was released on PC in 2015.
