Disney intends to be very aggressive in promoting its Disney+ subscription service and will bet on universes like Marvel comics or Star Wars. The company spoke about plans for the latter at the D23 Expo event: the final season of the Clone Wars animated series will be released in February, and future seasons of the fresh animated series will also be exclusively released on this service.
Fans of the universe and the second film trilogy (Episodes I-III) by George Lucas (George Lucas) can cautiously rejoice: the entertainment company has announced that Ewan McGregor will return to his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Yes, this famous Star Wars Jedi is getting his own series. Mr. McGregor announced this from the stage, beginning with the words: "I am very pleased to talk about this."
It is known that the story will begin 8 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Recall: the latter ended with the death of the Jedi Order, the transformation of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader, and the death of Princess Padmé Amidala during childbirth. One of the twins, Luke Skywalker, was delivered by Obi-Wan to a foster family on Tatooine.
According to the old canon, Obi-Wan led the life of a hermit until the events of Episode IV, but the new series will obviously show some of the adventures of the former knight of the Galactic Republic. The name of the future series is not called, nor is the time of its launch reported (filming should begin in 2020).
Initially Disney and Lucasfilm
