Airport staff may have been behind drone attack on Gatwick

The Gatwick boss told BBC Panorama that the person flying the drone "appeared to have been able to see what was happening on the runway."

In turn, Sussex Police told the TV program that the possibility of an insider being involved in the attack was a β€œcredible” version of the ongoing investigation.

Due to the appearance of a drone near the runway at the UK's second busiest airport, flights had to be suspended for 33 hours between December 19 and 21 last year. As a result, about 1000 flights were canceled or delayed, affecting about 140 thousand passengers.
