Contracts have been signed with space tourists, whose flight is scheduled for next year. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to information received from the Russian representative office of Space Adventures.
Recall that Space Adventures and Roscosmos have been cooperating in the field of space tourism since 2001, when the first space tourist, Dennis Tito, flew to the International Space Station (ISS).
The agreements now signed provide for the sending of two non-professional cosmonauts into orbit. Moreover, for the first time in history, as expected, a flight of two tourists will be organized at once, who will fly to the ISS together with an experienced cosmonaut - the commander of the ship.
Tourists will go into space on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Their names will be revealed approximately one year before the planned start. This means that the flight will take place no earlier than the third quarter of 2021.
Meanwhile, Space Adventures and Rocket and Space Corporation Energia named after. S.P. Koroleva (part of the state corporation Roscosmos) recently to send two more tourists to the ISS. Moreover, one of them will make a spacewalk for the first time in history: this will happen in 2023.
