The Meridian apparatus was launched in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This is a communications satellite manufactured by Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (ISS).
The term of the active existence of "Meridian" is seven years. If after that the on-board systems function normally, the service life of the device will be extended.

The control of the launch and flight of the rocket was carried out by an automated ground-based spacecraft control complex, βthe RIA Novosti report says.
Let us add that a Soyuz-2.1v light launch vehicle was recently successfully launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. Then, four satellites were launched in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense. They are designed to study the impact on spacecraft of the Russian orbital constellation of artificial and natural factors of outer space, the alignment of radar facilities of the Aerospace Forces.
