Microsoft Edge Extensions Website Launched

As you know, Microsoft recently introduced test versions of a new browser based on Chromium, which can already be downloaded. And before that, the company launched a new web page with extensions for the program. Until yesterday, there was no special need for it, but now the situation has changed.

It is reported that the new resource functions similarly to the Chrome extension store. To access, do the following:

  • Launch Microsoft Edge and click on the item with three dots ( ... ), then select the desired extensions;
  • After that, click "Get extensions from the Microsoft store", which will open a site with plugins;
  • On the page you can find a list of supported extensions, and then click the plugin on the one you need to install it in the browser. After that, the installed extensions will be displayed on the corresponding page.

While the algorithm looks clunky, it's also not clear if the company plans to keep the extensions resource for the new Microsoft Edge or merge it with the Microsoft Store extensions page after full launch. However, the second version is supported by the fact that there is no search on the website with extensions, so users will have to manually scroll through the list to find one or another plugin.

Recall that earlier Microsoft planned to transfer the “focus mode” that is in the original Edge to the new version. It allows you to pin web pages to the taskbar, and improvements to this mode are promised in a future version of the Chromium-based browser. Among them is the ability to read text from the page so that the design and other elements do not distract from work.

It is important to note that the company from Redmond has not yet specified when the release version of the browser will be released. It is possible that it will be presented in the fall or already in 2020.
