It is possible that the launch of the Proton-M launch vehicle with the Russian space observatory Spektr-RG will be postponed again.
Recall that initially the launch of the Spektr-RG apparatus was planned to be carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on June 21 this year. However, shortly before the launch, a problem was identified with one of the disposable chemical current sources. So the launch was for the reserve date - July 12.
As now stated in the message of the state corporation Roscosmos, during the final stage of ground tests, a remark was revealed on the launch vehicle, which required additional time to eliminate it.
βThis issue will be considered at a meeting of the State Commission at Baikonur, where they will make a final decision on launching during the main or reserve time,β the Roscosmos website says.
The Spektr-RG observatory is designed to study the Universe in the X-ray wavelength range. The launch of this apparatus is very important for the continuation of scientific research in outer space, so the checks are carried out with the utmost care.
July 13 is named as a new backup date for the launch of the Proton-M launch vehicle with the Spektr-RG observatory.
