Sphere is a large-scale Russian project to create a global communications system. The basis of the platform will be more than 600 spacecraft, including Earth remote sensing (ERS), navigation and relay satellites.

It is expected that the system will solve a variety of tasks, including providing communications, high-speed Internet access and optical observation of our planet in real time.

β€œThe Roscosmos State Corporation has prepared the concept of the FTP β€œSphere” and sent it to the interested federal executive authorities for approval,” the report says.

According to TASS, the first satellites that will be part of the Sphere platform are planned to be launched into orbit in 2023.

Earlier it was said that the Gonets company, which is the operator of domestic communication and relay systems, created by order of Roscosmos, can be appointed as the operator of the Sphere system.

The full deployment of the infrastructure of the Sphere system, most likely, will be completed no earlier than the end of the next decade.
