According to Mr. Putin, the domestic rocket and space industry requires deep modernization. A considerable part of the equipment, as well as the electronic component base, needs updating.

β€œIt is important to find effective mechanisms for the innovative development of the rocket and space industry, to concentrate financial, organizational, personnel, and administrative resources in priority areas, and to offer new forms of public-private partnership,” the head of state noted.

Vladimir Putin also stated the need for more active use of the Plesetsk cosmodrome and the completion of the construction of the second stage of the Vostochny cosmodrome.

β€œI would like to emphasize again that we must have independent access to space from Russian territory, and in the near future, launch loads at the Vostochny Cosmodrome should increase,” the Russian President said.

According to Vladimir Putin, in 2021 the Angara-A5 launch vehicle should be launched from Vostochny. And in 2025, the Angara-A5M heavy-class rocket should launch from this cosmodrome.

β€œRussia has extensive experience in the development and production of space technology, preparation for flights, and implementation of large-scale scientific programs in orbit. This is a unique groundwork, but, of course, it needs to be constantly expanded,” added Vladimir Putin.
