
We are publishing a report on salaries in the IT industry for the 2st half of 2018. The report is based on the data of the My Circle salary calculator: in which more than 8500 salaries were collected over this period.
Let's look at current salaries for all major IT specializations, as well as their annual dynamics both in general and in the main regions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other cities. Let's study the specialization of software developers in more detail: let's look at their salaries by programming language, city and company.
The data presented in our current report, as well as any others, can be obtained by anyone using "My circle". Salary service on My Circle at the end of 2017 in order to regularly monitor salaries in the IT industry. Salaries are left by the specialists themselves, we collect them and provide them to everyone in the public domain in an aggregated and anonymous form.
How to read report charts

All salaries are indicated in rubles. These are salaries received on hand, minus all taxes. Dots indicate specific salaries. The group of points for each sample is visualized using a "box with whiskers". The central vertical line shows the median salary (half of the salaries are below and half are above this point, this salary can be considered average), the boundaries of the box are the 25th and 75th percentiles (they divide the lower and upper half of the salaries in half again, as a result, half of all salaries lie between them). The whiskers of the box are the 10th and 90th percentiles (we can conditionally consider them the minimum and maximum salaries). The average salary in the IT industry is now 90 rubles: in Moscow - 000 rubles, in St. Petersburg - 125 rubles, in other regions - 000 rubles.
Over the past 2018, in the 1st half of the year, we observed a 6% increase in the median salary in the entire IT industry compared to the 2nd half of 2017: from 85 rubles. up to 000 rub. In the 90nd half of 000, compared to the 2st, the 2018th and 1th percentiles decreased slightly, but the median salary remained the same.
inflation in Russia was about 4%. Thus, we can say that real salaries in IT have practically not increased.

In general, in all regions, the growth of the median salary is observed in the field of development, administration, design, management, analytics and personnel; particularly strong growth in administration. No salary changes in testing and support. The decline is observed only in marketing.

If you look at the regions separately, then the growth of the median salary simultaneously in all regions is observed only in development and administration. And the decrease simultaneously in all regions is observed only in marketing.
For other specializations in all cities, except for Moscow and St. Petersburg, we see a decrease in salaries (analytics, HR, support and marketing) or no changes (testing and management).
In HR, design and analytics, salary growth is observed only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, in management - only in Moscow.

In general, in all regions, we observe an increase in the median salary in the field of development in all specializations, except for systems engineers, full-stack and mobile developers, where salaries have not changed. Especially strong salary growth for embed developers.

If you look at the regions separately, then the salary growth in all regions at the same time is observed only in the backend. Salaries in the frontend increased due to St. Petersburg, in embed — due to Moscow and the regions, and in desktop and gamedev — due to the regions.

Developer salaries by programming language
The highest salaries are still among developers in languages: Elixir - 140 rubles, Go - 000 rubles, Scala - 140 rubles and Objective-C - 000 rubles.
The median salary increased over the year in almost all programming languages, with C # and Objective-C distinguished themselves by the highest salary growth. Median salaries fell only for PHP, Scala, and Ruby, the latter with the largest pay cuts.

Developer salaries by company
Along with the companies, we also displayed on the chart the salaries of those who indicated that they work as a freelance developer. It is interesting to compare this salary with the salary of outsourcing companies that perform the same function as freelancers.
Yandex, Kaspersky Lab, Mail.ru, Luxoft and Alfa Bank remain the leaders in terms of salaries of their developers.

The average salary in development is now 98 rubles: in Moscow - 000 rubles, in St. Petersburg - 133 rubles, in Nizhny Novgorod - 000 rubles, in other regions - 110 rubles.
