GIMP ported to GTK3 completed

The developers of the GIMP graphics editor announced the successful completion of tasks related to the transition of the codebase to use the GTK3 library instead of GTK2, as well as the use of the new CSS-like style definition system used in GTK3. All changes needed to build with GTK3 are included in the main GIMP branch. The move to GTK3 is also marked as work done in preparation for the release of GIMP 3.0.

Ongoing work that needs to be completed before the release of GIMP 3.0 is Wayland support, API redesign for scripts and plugins, completion of color management system modernization and integration of CMYK color space support, revision of the concept of floating selection (by default, insert in the form of a new layer). Among the GIMP 3.0-related tasks already fully completed, in addition to switching to GTK3, support for layered selection and layered operations, the transition to the Meson build system, and the transition from intltool to gettext during localization are mentioned.
