Tesla aims to produce 3000 Model 3 units per month once the Shanghai plant goes online. In the future, the company intends to increase production capacity by increasing the number of sedans produced to 10 units per week. This suggests that about a third of all Model 000 electric cars produced will be produced in China.

The launch ceremony for the construction of the plant in Shanghai took place in January this year. To date, it has already been possible to complete the construction of some buildings that are part of the enterprise's infrastructure. Among other things, the plant will carry out the main processes of car production, such as stamping, welding, painting and assembly. The plant under construction is wholly owned by Tesla. The company plans to produce up to 500 cars annually on it. Having a factory in China will help bring down the cost of Tesla vehicles in the country as taxes and logistics costs are cut. In addition, the company will try to compete with local automakers that produce electric cars.
