Over the past week, protests against police brutality and racial injustice have spread across the United States and parts of the world. Many companies have issued statements expressing their support for the Black Lives Matter movement (“Black Lives Matter”). Among them, Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward did something special - they added a message directly to и .
Infinity Ward has released an update to the above shooters for all platforms that adds a motion statement to the launch and loading screens. It says:
“Our society is under threat. Problems with systemic inequalities splitting our society have again come to the fore. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for unity and equal opportunity. We condemn racism and injustice against the black part of our society. Until change comes and black lives matter, we won't be the way we want to be."
This is not the first step Infinity Ward has taken out of respect for this week's protest movement. The new seasons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile were supposed to launch on June 3, but on Tuesday the official Call of Duty Twitter account that these updates will be delayed because "the time has come to hear from those who stand for equality and justice."
Activision Blizzard also a short statement supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Some reacted negatively to this gesture, as the company was previously opposed to mixing politics and games.
