aptX and aptX HD audio codecs are part of the Android open source codebase

Qualcomm has decided to implement support for aptX and aptX HD (High Definition) audio codecs in the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) repository, which will make it possible to use these codecs in all Android devices. We are talking only about the aptX and aptX HD codecs, more advanced versions of which, such as aptX Adaptive and aptX Low Latency, will still be shipped separately.

aptX and aptX HD (Audio Processing Technology) codecs are used in the A2DP Bluetooth profile and are supported by many Bluetooth headphones. At the same time, due to the need to pay royalties for the integration of aptX codecs, some manufacturers, such as Samsung, refused to support aptX in their products, preferring SBC and AAC codecs.
