Microsoft has made a change in the binary builds of the Microsoft C/C++ Extension (ms-vscode.cpptools) that blocks operation in forks of the open-source code editor VS Code (Visual Studio Code). The extension is proprietary and is used to add C/C++ language support to VS Code. After updating to version 1.24.5, users of the VS Codium and Cursor editors, based on VS Code, encountered […]

Researchers from ARMO have demonstrated the ability to create rootkits that do not use specific system calls to perform typical operations like reading/writing files and receiving commands from an external server. Instead of system calls for network and file operations, it is proposed to use the asynchronous I/O interface io_uring, supported since Linux kernel 5.1. The essence of the method is that instead of separate […]

The release of QEMU 10.0.0 has been announced. As an emulator, QEMU allows you to run a program compiled for one hardware platform on a system with a completely different architecture, for example, running an ARM application on an x86-compatible PC. In virtualization mode, QEMU's performance in executing code in an isolated environment is close to that of hardware systems due to direct instruction execution on the CPU and the involvement of […]

The use of Privacy Sandbox technologies in the ecosystem will also be reviewed, with a plan for further advancement intended to be prepared in […]
In the upcoming Fedora Linux 43 release, scheduled for October, packages used in GNOME for operation over the X server are planned to be removed from the project's repositories. All GNOME users who have been using X11 are urged to switch to a GNOME session based on Wayland. The project is developed by the community after Mandriva S.A. handed over the project management to the non-profit organization 'OpenMandriva Association'. Live builds are available for download for the x86_64 architecture with KDE (full 3.2 GB, slimmed-down 2.4 GB in X11 and Wayland versions), GNOME (3.2 GB), Cosmic (3 […]
The Khronos consortium, which develops graphics standards, has recognized the full compatibility of the open NVK driver with the Vulkan 1.4 specification on systems with NVIDIA GPUs based on the Maxwell (GTX 700/800/900), Pascal (GTX 1000), and Volta (TITAN V) microarchitectures. The driver has successfully passed all tests from the CTS (Khronos Conformance Test Suite) and is included in the list of certified drivers. Obtaining certification provides […]
