GitHub has announced the establishment of a service providing free legal assistance to open-source developers accused of violating Section 1201 of the DMCA, which prohibits circumvention of technical protection measures such as DRM. The service will be overseen by attorneys from Stanford Law School, with funding provided by the new Developer Defense Fund, which has allocated one million dollars for its operation.
The ntop project, which develops tools for traffic capture and analysis, has released the nDPI 4.0 packet deep inspection toolkit, continuing the development of the OpenDPI library. The nDPI project was initiated after an unsuccessful attempt to submit changes to the OpenDPI repository, which has remained unsupported. The nDPI code is written in C and is distributed under the LGPLv3 license. The project enables the identification of protocols used in traffic.
The DXVK 1.9.1 layer is now available, providing an implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 9, 10, and 11, operating through call translation in the Vulkan API. DXVK requires drivers that support API Vulkan 1.1, such as Mesa RADV 20.2, NVIDIA 415.22, Intel ANV 19.0, and AMDVLK. DXVK can be used to run 3D applications and games.
