A vulnerability (CVE-2026-6100) has been identified in the CPython classes responsible for unpacking compressed data in formats lzma, bz2, and gzip (lzma.LZMADecompressor, bz2.BZ2Decompressor, and gzip.GzipFile), leading to access to memory after it has been freed. The issue has been assigned a critical severity level (9.1 out of 10) — if successfully exploited, the vulnerability could lead to information leakage from the process memory or the execution of code […]
Four years after the last update was released, the jemalloc 5.3.1 memory management library is now available, offering an alternative implementation of malloc functions optimized to reduce fragmentation and operate on multi-processor systems. To address locking issues on multicore systems, jemalloc uses a separate isolated memory allocation area for each CPU core, achieving linear scalability as workload increases […]

Linus Torvalds and industry partners have reached an agreement that allows the employment of AI assistants but imposes strict disclosure rules and places full responsibility for any errors on human developers. The new rules prohibit the use of the legally binding 'Signed-off-by' tag for code generated by AI systems, […]
