In this study, I wanted to examine what performance improvements can be achieved by using the ClickHouse data source instead of PostgreSQL. I am aware of the performance benefits I gain from using ClickHouse. Will these benefits be preserved if I access ClickHouse from PostgreSQL using a foreign data wrapper (FDW)? The database environments under investigation are PostgreSQL v11 and clickhousedb_fdw.
On Monday, July 20, the release of re2c — a generator of fast lexical analyzers — was announced. Key changes include the addition of support for the Go language (which can be enabled using the —lang go option for re2c or as a separate re2go program).
