In the 6.0.0 release of the hashcat program for password cracking across more than 320 types of hashes (using GPU capabilities), the developer introduced numerous improvements: A new plugin interface supporting modular hash modes. A new API interface supporting APIs other than OpenCL. CUDA support. Detailed documentation for plugin developers. GPU emulation mode — to run kernel code on the CPU (instead of […]
On June 22, the anniversary version 0.20.2 of the popular open-source planetarium Stellarium was released, visualizing the realistic night sky as if you were observing it with the naked eye or through binoculars or a telescope. The anniversary of the release marks the project's age — 20 years ago, Fabien Chéreau was tasked with the challenge of loading a new discrete graphics card. In total, between […]
The working group began developing the standard back in 2014 and is currently working on draft 3.0. This differs somewhat from previous generations of the 802.11 standards, as their work was completed in two drafts. This is due to the large number of planned comprehensive changes, which consequently require more detailed and complex compatibility testing. Initially, the group faced […]
The release of the decentralized file system IPFS 0.6 (InterPlanetary File System) has been published, forming a global version-controlled file storage deployed as a P2P network composed of participant systems. IPFS combines ideas previously implemented in systems like Git, BitTorrent, Kademlia, SFS, and the Web, and resembles a single 'swarm' of BitTorrent (peers participating in the distribution) exchanging Git objects. IPFS features content-based addressing, and […]

The 'heart' of the graphics card is the NVIDIA Turing architecture processor. The product contains 2560 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit bus. The core clock frequency of the chip reaches 1815 MHz in turbo mode. The graphics accelerator is equipped with a cooling system featuring two 90-millimeter […]
After a year of development, the release of Snuffleupagus 0.5.1 has been published, providing a module for the PHP7 interpreter aimed at enhancing the security of the environment and blocking typical errors that lead to vulnerabilities in PHP applications. The module also allows for the creation of virtual patches to address specific issues without modifying the source code of the vulnerable application, which is convenient for use in mass hosting systems where it is impossible to […]
The release of the library for scientific, mathematical, and engineering calculations SciPy 1.5.0 has occurred. SciPy provides a large collection of modules for tasks such as calculating integrals, solving differential equations, image processing, statistical analysis, interpolation, applying Fourier transforms, finding extrema of functions, vector operations, analog signal processing, working with sparse matrices, etc. The project's code is distributed under the BSD license and uses […]
Jason A. Donenfeld, the author of VPN WireGuard, announced the acceptance of the core 'wg' driver for the WireGuard protocol into the main branch of OpenBSD, which implements a specific network interface and modifies the user-space tooling. OpenBSD has become the second OS after Linux to have full and integrated support for WireGuard. The inclusion of WireGuard is expected in the OpenBSD 6.8 release. The patches include a driver for […]

It is now possible to write comparison operators with the same precedence in […]
Hello everyone. I couldn't find a comprehensive guide online for logging and collecting metrics from third-party services in systems deployed on Kubernetes. I'm publishing my solution. This article assumes you already have a working Prometheus and other services. As an example of a data source from an external stateful service, we'll use a PostgreSQL database in a Docker container. The company uses […]
