Today, we will introduce you to the features of using SQL Server 2019 with the Unity XT storage system, as well as provide recommendations for virtualizing SQL Server using VMware technology, setting up and managing the basic components of the Dell EMC infrastructure. In 2017, Dell EMC and VMware published the results of a survey on trends and the evolution of SQL Server — 'Transforming SQL […]
In the PHP ecosystem, there are currently two connectors for working with the Tarantool server — the official PECL tarantool/tarantool-php extension, written in C, and tarantool-php/client, written in PHP. I am the author of the latter. In this article, I would like to share the results of performance testing for both libraries and demonstrate how minimal code changes can achieve […]
Industrial software system development requires significant attention to the fault tolerance of the end product, as well as rapid responses to failures and crashes when they occur. Monitoring certainly helps respond to failures and crashes more efficiently and quickly, but it's not enough. First, it's very difficult to keep track of a large number of servers – a large number of people are needed. Second, you need to have a good understanding of how […]
It's time to talk about devices designed for brake control. These devices are called "valves", although a long evolution has taken them quite far from valves in the conventional sense, turning them into fairly complex pneumatic automation devices. The good old 394 spool valve is still used on rolling stock 1. Engineer's valves — a brief introduction by definition The train valve […]

The release of the specialized distribution Tails 4.1 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been formed, based on the Debian package base and intended for providing anonymous internet access. Anonymous access in Tails is ensured by the Tor system. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. For storing user data in the data-saving mode between sessions, [...]
The release of the Mir display server 1.6 has been presented, whose development continues by Canonical despite the abandonment of the Unity interface and Ubuntu edition for smartphones. Mir remains in demand in Canonical's projects and is now positioned as a solution for embedded devices and the Internet of Things (IoT). Mir can be used as a compositing server for Wayland, enabling launches in environments [...]
We have already discussed how/why we like Rook: it significantly simplifies working with storage in Kubernetes clusters. However, this simplicity comes with certain complexities. We hope the new material will help better understand such challenges before they arise. To make reading more engaging, we'll start with the implications of a hypothetical problem in the cluster. 'Everything [...].
Over the past few years of the Internet of Things development, the most advanced city dwellers have come to believe that IoT solutions are large projects that optimize technological processes—from factories to farms. Meanwhile, for most people, the Internet of Things still boils down to toy speakers named after women. To convince you that the Internet of Things can offer ordinary people much more even now, we have compiled […]
