The Free Software Foundation has introduced new devices that have received the 'Respect Your Freedom' certification, which confirms the device's compliance with privacy and user freedom requirements and grants the right to use a special logo in related product materials, emphasizing the provision of full control to the user over the device. The FSF also launched a separate website for the Respect Your Freedom initiative (ryf.fsf.org), where […]
In full accordance with the plans and without obstacles from antitrust authorities, Broadcom has completed the acquisition of Symantec’s division focused on developing solutions for corporate computing platform security. The deal was announced in August of this year following very challenging negotiations. Initially, Broadcom sought to acquire Symantec entirely for over $15 billion. However, Symantec's inflated self-assessment prevented […]
Performance in .NET Core Hello everyone! This article is a compilation of Best Practices that my colleagues and I have been applying for a long time across different projects. Information about the machine on which the calculations were performed: BenchmarkDotNet=v0.11.5, OS=Windows 10.0.18362 Intel Core i5-8250U CPU 1.60GHz (Kaby Lake R), 1 CPU, 8 logical and 4 physical cores .NET Core SDK=3.0.100 […]
One beautiful spring evening, when going home wasn’t appealing, and the unquenchable desire to live and learn burned like a hot iron, the idea arose to tinker with an intriguing feature on the firewall called "IP DOS policy." After some initial exploration and reviewing the manual, I configured it in Pass-and-Log mode to check the output and questionable usefulness of this setting. […]
One and a half years ago, on March 5, 2018, Google released the first alpha version of its Open Source CI/CD project called Skaffold, aimed at creating a "simple and reproducible development experience for Kubernetes," allowing developers to focus on development rather than administration. What makes Skaffold interesting? It turns out it has several advantages up its sleeve, thanks to […]
Good day, today I want to tell you about a device that I developed and assembled. Introduction Height-adjustable desks have been on the market for a long time with a wide variety of models available — practically something for every taste and budget, although this is one of the topics for my project, but more on that below. I'll provide links later […]
OpenIndiana is an operating system based on OpenSolaris. It is part of the Illumos Foundation and provides a true open-source alternative to Solaris 11 and Solaris 11 Express, including an open development model and full community participation. The latest release of the project, OpenIndiana Hipster 2019.10, transitions some tools from Python 2 to version 3 along with several updates […]
Google has unveiled a new open project called OpenTitan, which serves as a platform for creating trusted hardware components (RoT, Root of Trust). The foundation of OpenTitan is based on technologies already used in Google's Titan cryptographic USB tokens and TPM chips for ensuring verified boot processes, which are deployed on servers in Google's infrastructure, as well as on Chromebook and Pixel devices. The code related to the project […]
Representing infrastructure as code in a repeatable text format is a best practice for systems that does not require much effort. This practice is known as Infrastructure as Code, and currently, there are two popular tools for implementing it, especially in AWS: Terraform and CloudFormation. I compare the experiences of working with Terraform and CloudFormation Before joining […]
I want to share my experience of transitioning Apache 2.4 to PCRE2, as even PHP 7 has long supported the PCRE2 library, while the open source Apache Software Foundation still has not. Of course, I might be ahead of the release of Apache with PCRE2 support, as I am using sources from the Apache Git repository, which indicates that PCRE2 support might soon be available in […]
In our last post, we discussed how we prepare standard client virtual machines and used our new Ultralight plan priced at 120 rubles as an example to demonstrate how we created a standard image of Windows Server 2019 Core. We began receiving requests on how to work with Server 2019 Core without the familiar graphical interface. We decided to showcase the operation with Windows Server […]
