Release of package manager Pacman 5.2

The release of the package manager Pacman 5.2, used in the Arch Linux distribution, is now available. Key changes include: Complete removal of delta update support, which allowed for downloading only changes. This feature was removed due to the discovery of a vulnerability (CVE-2019-18183) that allowed arbitrary command execution in the system when using unsigned databases. For an attack to occur, the user would need to download prepared files with the database and delta update from the attacker.

Samsung has shut down the 'Linux on DeX' project.

Samsung has announced the discontinuation of the Linux on DeX testing program. Support for this environment on devices with firmware based on Android 10 will not be provided. It is worth noting that the Linux on DeX environment was based on Ubuntu and allowed users to create a full desktop experience by connecting their smartphones to a stationary monitor, keyboard, and mouse via the DeX adapter.

System76, a company specializing in laptops, PCs, and servers shipped with Linux, has released Pop!_OS 19.10, developed for deployment on System76 hardware instead of the previously offered Ubuntu distribution. Pop!_OS is based on the Ubuntu 19.10 package base and features a redesigned desktop environment based on a modified GNOME Shell. The project developments are distributed under the GPLv3 license. ISO images have been generated.

The Linux on DeX application will no longer be supported.
