We received a detailed review from one of our OS users that we would like to share with you. Astra Linux is a Debian derivative, created as part of the Russian initiative to transition to open source software. There are several versions of Astra Linux, one of which is intended for general, everyday use — Astra Linux “Eagle” Common Edition. A Russian operating system for everyone — […]
The Gentoo Linux distribution has turned 20 years old. On October 4, 1999, Daniel Robbins registered the domain gentoo.org and began developing a new distribution, attempting to transfer some ideas from the FreeBSD project together with Bob Mutch, merging them with the Linux distribution Enoch, which had been under development for about a year, experimenting with building a distribution assembled from […]
After six months of development, the release of OpenSSH 8.1 has been presented, which is an open implementation of a client and server for working with SSH 2.0 and SFTP protocols. The new release particularly addresses a vulnerability affecting ssh, sshd, ssh-add, and ssh-keygen. The issue is present in the code for parsing private keys of type XMSS, allowing an attacker to initiate an integer overflow. This vulnerability is marked as exploitable, […]

Hello, Habr! Previously, I complained about life in the Infrastructure as Code paradigm and offered no solutions for the situation. Today, I'm back to share which approaches and practices can help pull us out of the abyss of despair and steer the situation in the right direction. 1. The day turned out to be unfortunate. It started with me waking up in new clothes. I mean, they were old, of course, but now they weren’t mine. The red arrow in the corner of the interface was blinking, signaling a completed move. "Damn it!" To become a displaced person for the second time in a year is quite too much. It’s just bad luck. However, there’s nothing to be done: it was time to […]
When you want to submit your research article to a journal, you must choose a target journal relevant to your field of study, and it should be indexed in one of the major indexing databases, such as ISI, Scopus, SCI, SCI-E, or ESCI. However, identifying a target journal with a good citation report isn't straightforward. In this article, the publisher […]
This further explores the topic of the "Golden Ratio" in economics—what is it? Let’s approach the issue of preferred resource allocation from a perspective that hasn’t been discussed yet. We will take the simplest model of event generation: flipping a coin and the probability of getting heads or tails. It is postulated that: The outcome of heads or tails is equally likely with each individual flip – 50 […]
Richard Stallman's response to the joint statement regarding the GNU project. As the head of GNU, I want to assure the community that there will be no radical changes in the GNU project, its goals, principles, and policies. I intend to gradually introduce changes to the decision-making processes because I will not be here forever, and we need to prepare others to make decisions […]
Every third speaker at DUMP said during selection: "Wow, you all take this very seriously!" or "What, can we have several runs?" Maybe, maybe… Hardcore and practice, practice and hardcore — that’s what the mid-levels expect when they come to DUMPs. The program committee scrutinizes each application through three selection stages. On November 8 in Kazan, Alexander Orlov (Stratoplan) will speak, […]
