FreeNAS 11.3 has been released — one of the best distributions for creating network storage. It combines ease of setup and use, reliable data preservation, a modern web interface, and rich functionality. Its main feature is support for ZFS.
Along with the new version of the software, updated hardware has been released: TrueNAS X-Series and M-Series based on FreeNAS 11.3.
Key changes in the new version:
- ZFS replication: performance has increased by 8 times; support for parallel task execution has been added; auto-resumption of interrupted data transmission.
- A Wizard has been introduced for easy installation of iSCSI, SMB, Pools, Networking, and Replication.
- SMB improvements: user quotas with AD, shadow copies, ACL manager.
- Plugin design enhancements.
- Dashboard and reporting system: now provides faster responses and more current data.
- Configuration management: the API allows for saving configuration files and auditing them.
- Support for WireGuard VPN has been added.
- The TrueNAS server line has been updated.
