A study by Strategy Analytics suggests that the global market for smart speakers with intelligent voice assistants is growing rapidly.
In the last quarter of 2019, smart speaker sales reached 55,7 million units, an absolute quarterly record. The year-on-year growth in shipments was approximately 44,7%.
In first place in terms of quarterly deliveries is Amazon with 15,8 million units and a share of 28,3%. On the second line is Google - 13,9 million units and 24,9% of the market. Baidu closes the top three with 5,9 million sold gadgets and 10,6% of the industry.
Annual sales of smart speakers also hit a record high of 146,9 million units. Compared to 2018, shipments jumped by an impressive 70%.
Amazon remains the leader, but the company's share decreased from 33,7% to 26,2% over the year. The second line went to Google, whose result worsened from 25,9% in 2018 to 20,3% in 2019. It is also noted that Chinese manufacturers - Baidu, Alibaba and Xiaomi - are actively increasing their presence in the smart speaker market.
As for the Russian market of smart speakers, there is no exact data on it. But it should be noted that Yandex.Stations with the voice assistant Alice are gaining popularity in our country. According to Canalys, which Vedomosti previously cited, in the first half of 2019, Yandex shipped about 60 of its smart speakers.
