On the official website of Sony Interactive Entertainment appeared message about change of leadership in Japan Studio Nicolas Doucet became the new director of the studio on February 1st.

Ducet is best known as the head of development and director of the VR platformer Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, created by Japan Studio in general and the Asobi team in particular.

Japan Studio is divided into two components - the mentioned Asobi Team, whose creative director will remain Duce, and Project Siren (aka Team Gravity). The latter deals with games in the Siren and Gravity Rush series.

The Asobi division was founded by Ducet himself in 2012. Before that, the Frenchman managed to work in the London studio of Sony and Saffire Corporation, where he had a hand in the creation of EyeToy: Play 3 and LEGO Bionicle, respectively.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission was released in October 2018 exclusively for PlayStation VR. Critics received the game extremely warmly: the project's rating on Metacritic reached 90 points from 100.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission was named Best VR/Augmented Reality Game of 2018 at the Awards Ceremony The Game Awards 2018.

It is noteworthy that Astro Bot: Rescue Mission was born from the Robots Rescue mini-game, which is included in the VR version of The Playroom compilation. The kit went free to all owners of the PlayStation 4.
