Cliff Bleszinski's studio could have released a story-driven shooter in the Alien universe, but it didn't work out

Game designer Cliff Bleszinski personal microblog admitted that his now deceased Boss Key Productions was in talks with 20th Century Fox to create a story-driven shooter set in the Alien universe.

Discussion of the issue, apparently, began shortly after the release of Alien: isolation in 2014 and continued until the acquisition of Fox by Disney. The deal was completed in 2019, but the first information about it appeared in 2017.

The plot of the canceled shooter would have told about the grown-up Rebecca Jordan, nicknamed Newt - in the movie "Aliens" of the 1986 model, the main character of the franchise, Ellen Ripley, acted as her protector.

The events of the game were planned to unfold on Earth. In the research complex of the Weyland-Yutani company, experiments were carried out to turn Aliens into weapons, but everything, "as always, went to hell."

Ripley in a non-existent project would play the role of Cortana from the Halo series (acted as a coordinator), and Casey, named after the Newt doll, would perform the functions of Bishop's android assistant.

Following the story about the failed shooter, Blezinski admitted that never wanted work on other people's franchises with the exception of two: the already mentioned "Alien" and "Transformers".

After the closure of Boss Key Productions in 2018, Blezinski swore never play games again, but already in August 2019, the creative streak of the game designer made itself known: the developer said that he could not get rid of the new idea in his head.
