Video: The creators of 3DMark showed a demonstration of the capabilities of Google Stadia with multiple GPUs

UL, which is developing a suite of 3D Mark and PC Mark test suites, showed a new multi-GPU tech demo during GDC 2019. It is connected with the new Stadia cloud gaming platform presented at a special Google presentation. A key feature of Stadia is the ability to use multi-GPU configurations to accelerate cloud computing and take gaming to a new level.

It is precisely the use of multiple GPUs to achieve advanced visual effects in the Stadia service that the demonstration is dedicated to. UL shows how developers can use multi-GPU rendering to create better gaming environments. UL has been working closely with Google over the past few months to create a multi-GPU cloud rendering demo that runs in real time.

In the demo above, a single GPU handles most of the traditional rendering geometry. And additional graphics accelerators are called upon as needed to dynamically enhance the scene with fluid simulation and complex particle effects. This approach opens up very interesting possibilities, greatly increasing the efficiency of using the GPU and removing restrictions when creating high-end special effects.
