On February 11, the release of Firefox 73.0 was presented to the public.
The Firefox developers would like to express their special thanks to 19 new contributors who submitted their code for this release for the first time.
Added:
- the ability to set a default zoom level globally (in the settings under 'Language and Appearance'), while the zoom level for each website is still preserved separately;
- [windows] the page background adjusts to the system high contrast mode.
Fixed:
- security patches;
- improved audio quality during accelerated/slow playback;
- the prompt to save the login appears only if the input field value has been changed.
Other changes:
- WebRender will be enabled on laptops with Windows OS and an Nvidia graphics card (with a driver newer than version 432.00 and a screen size smaller than 1920×1200).
For developers:
- the contents of WebSocket messages in WAMP format (JSON, MsgPack, and CBOR) are now beautifully decoded for viewing on the 'Network' tab in the developer tools.
Web platform:
- improved automatic detection of outdated text encodings on old web pages where the encoding is not explicitly specified.
Not fixed:
- [windows] users of 0patch software may experience crashes when launching Firefox 73. This will be fixed in the next release. As a workaround, firefox.exe can be added to exclusions in the 0patch settings.
