On February 11, a new version of the KDE desktop version 5.18 became available, which has the status of LTS (long-term support, long-term support for two years).

From innovations:

  • Correct rendering controls in the window title bars of GTK applications.
  • Emoji Picker - an interface that allows you to insert emoji into text, including in the terminal.
  • new global editing panel, which replaced the old desktop customization tools.
  • The Night Color widget has been added to the system tray, allowing you to enable the "night illumination" mode. You can also assign hotkeys for this mode and Do Not Disturb mode.
  • More compact audio control widget interface. Also available sound volume indicator for individual applications (located in the taskbar next to the corresponding application icon).
  • Added telemetry settings in the System Preferences app. Telemetry is anonymous, adjustable and completely disabled by default.
  • Improved environment performance in X11 mode, fixed visual artifacts on fractional scaling.
  • KSysGuard system monitor added GPU usage tab for Nvidia graphics cards.
