A domain is an identifier of a web page on the Internet. Firms and companies can be found on the Internet by their domain names. For example, the domain name www.prohoster.info is used to find a registrar ProHoster online.

The top-level domain (TLD) is the part of the domain name that comes at the end after the dot (for example, https://www.prohoster.info ). There are different top level domains .com, .org, .biz, .net etc.

Domain registration only includes the rights to the domain name that you purchase (for example, prohoster.info) for the duration of the domain lease, usually one to ten years. You can set contact information for a domain, change nameserver delegation, and add entries.

Yes. If you host a domain name with us, you can also create and host subdomains. To create a subdomain of a domain name that is already in your account, follow these simple instructions:

• Sign in to your account
• Select the Products/Services tab and select Domains
• After selecting the domain you want to create a subdomain in the interface, click on Add Subdomains
• Enter the desired subdomain
• Select your domain hosting option and click Continue.

The duration depends on how quickly the Registrar transfers the domain name from the Seller to the Buyer. This time can vary from a few minutes to six weeks.

You can speed up this process by sending a request to your current registrar asking for an expedited transfer. Transferring a domain in international zones — .COM, .NET, .ORG and others — takes from 7 to 14 calendar days.

There are several steps after your domain expires to protect you from losing any domains you wish to keep.

• Approximately 30 days before your domain expires, we begin sending you reminders to the email address you provided when you registered your domain name.
• You will receive at least two reminders before the expiration date and one reminder within five days after the expiration date.
• If you are unable to secure payment by the domain registration end date, your domain name will expire.
• As early as one day after expiration, your domain name will be deactivated and replaced with a parking page indicating that the domain name has expired and other services associated with that domain name may no longer work.
• As early as 30 days after expiration, your domain name may be purchased by a third party.
• If a third party purchases a domain name during this time, it will not be available for renewal.
• If the domain name has not been renewed by you or acquired by a third party, the expired domain name enters the registry recovery period (as determined by each registry) approximately 45 days after expiration.
• If a third party acquires a domain name before the registry expires, the domain name will not go live and will not be available for renewal.

The repayment period can last up to 30 days after the initial renewal grace period. You may still be able to use the domain during this time. The fee for reactivating a domain is usually equal to the cost for renewal. At the end of the recovery period, domains go into a 5-day deletion cycle, after which they become available for registration.
